Finished his medical education in 1998 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium. Thomas Rose started his surgical training as a general surgeon in 1998. From 1998 to 2004 Thomas Rose worked as a Surgical Trainee in different hospitals. Since 2004 major research topics of Thomas Rose are new strategies in the treatment of wound infections, developing of new skin replacement therapies and clinical nutrition. For those topics a multidisciplinary team of Intensive Care Specialists, surgeons, microbiologists, biologists, lab technicians and research nurses was formed. Special area of interest for the treatment of wound infections are the Bacteriophage therapy. Therefore different basic resaerch projects are performed. Furthermore, different projects for developing new dermal substitutes are ongoing. A special aspect of the research team is to control the correct use of donated human tissue. Discuss ethical aspects, report and publish illegeal practice and developing guide lines to prevent donated tissue in profit bussiness are several items of the work of the research team.
