  1. Minutes from the last meeting

The minutes of the ETRS meeting held in Amsterdam 19-21 April 2002 were approved.

  2. Matters arising from the minutes

Keith Harding had obtained a delegates list of the Cardiff meeting and passed this on to both George Cherry and Esther Middelkoop.

  3. A meeting had been held with the Wound Healing Society to discuss the principles for future joint meetings. The outcome of that meeting resulted in a set of brief agreements/guidelines, which are appended to the minutes of this meeting,

  4. The new arrangements proposed for the President etc of the ETRS would commence operation in 2005.

  5. It was agreed that the two Board members from Germany, Professor Becker and Professor Scharfetter-Kochanek, would liaise and bring forward to the Board suggestions for where the ETRS 2005 meeting could be held in Germany, organised jointly by themselves.

  6. ETRS Business Office

A draft contract for the ETRS Business Office was tabled and agreed by ETRS Board Members. Dr George Cherry joined the ETRS Board Meeting and was presented with the draft contract. He agreed that he would be able to provide the services requested and was to produce a price for these services within two weeks to the incoming President, Professor Mark W J Ferguson. If a price could be agreed, then a formal contract would be issued and the operation of the Business Office reviewed during the year 2003, during which point a decision will be taken about whether or not to renew the contract for a more extended period.

It was further agreed that for 2002 the previous arrangement with the ETRS Business Office would stand and Dr George Cherry would present an invoice to Mieke Flour for £4,000 to cover the additional activities of the Business Office for the year 2002.

  7. Paris 2004
Discussion took place concerning the Paris meeting and specifically involvement of the Wound Healing Society. Following on from the agreement of the Wound Healing Society concerning future joint meetings, it was agreed for Paris 2004:

    i) That Luc Téot could bill this as the joint meeting of the ETRS and the WHS,

ii) That as the WHS would operate a smaller meeting in line with the guidelines that year, that the financial benefits from the meeting would be restricted to those societies (predominantly European) that had agreed to cancel their annual meeting that year.

  8. Wound Repair and Regeneration.

Blackwell had complained that they had been unable to get a list of ETRS Members and their email addresses from the Business Office and consequently the European Members were not able to receive the Journal on line, unlike members of the WHS. It was agreed to ask George Cherry and Mieke Flour to email a copy of the full list of ETRS members names, addresses, e-mail addresses etc., to Blackwell, with a copy to Bill Lindblad, the Editor of Wound Repair and Regeneration, so that these matters could be dealt with quickly for ETRS members.

Various Editorial changes were made to ETRS representation on Wound Repair and Regeneration. Summarised, these are new Clinical Editor - Professor Finn Gotrup, Receiving Editors for Europe - Professor Luc Téot and Profesor Keith Harding, Editorial Board - the following ETRS representatives retired form the Board - Professors Abetangelo, Gabbiani, LapiËre, Ryan and Westerhof. The following new Editorial Board members were appointed by the ETRS Board - Dr Coulomb, Professor Werner, Dr Romanelli, Dr Middlekoop and Professor Becker.

Professor Ferguson remained on the Wound Repair and Regeneration Editorial board, although he indicated that he should step down within the next two years to allow for a more regular replacement of Editorial Board members.

The Board requested the Secretary to write to the retiring Editorial Board members to thank them for their services.

  9. Professor Téot informed the meeting of an upcoming Wound Healing Conference in Tripoli, Libya, on 17 October 2002 and requested participants.

  10. There being no further business the meeting ended.
