AN
UPDATE ON ETRS 2007
Dear Wound
Healer,
The
preparations for the 17th Annual meeting of the European Tissue Repair
Society (ETRS) are afoot. First of all, we have an excellent location
and second of all, we have set the framework for a top quality scientific
meeting. Read on.
The chosen location is the Botley Park Country Club (BPCC) (see pictures
below). This is situated on the M27 motorway that connects Southampton
with Portsmouth. The BPCC is situated approximately 15 kms from Southampton
Airport Parkway Station though it may be accessed from Fareham Railway
Station and a cheaper cab ride.
As the meeting venue (BPCC) is residential, there is ample room to wander
out of the lecture rooms into the green spaces (there is an 18-hole golf
club) or into a swimming pool to regenerate those endorphins before getting
back into the meeting rooms. There is some accommodation available on
site, much more (at varied rates) is booked very close by and there will
be shuttle buses. It is also planned to run shuttle buses from the main
rail/air/coach terminals to BPCC. If you wish to fly in, there is a helipad
at BPCC.

The
theme of the meeting is ‘Measurements in wound healing …’
chosen so that the significance ‘at the coalface’
of a validated (at the bench) process may be elaborated upon. Alternatively
when a wound device/therapeutic is embraced ‘at the coalface’
(clinic) or it should logically be, what are the measurable links that
can aid/improve this process? So if you are toiling away at the bench
chasing those elusive molecules, think about how and what these are meant
to hit.
And get your abstracts ready for submission (check website for last date).

The ETRS
Keynote Lecture will be presented by Stephen Holgate whose successes in
all aspects of research have made him an iconic figure. Steve will talk
about developing scientists in health care.
Encouraging the Young Investigator will be a continuing theme. Check the
website for details.
If you wish to submit your work for the poster sessions, remember those
accepted will be called upon to make short punchy presentations too. This
way, those who present posters will get ‘two bites of the cherry’
(I don’t mean the George Cherry variety).
Returning to those who plan to exhibit, the Open Day was well supported.
A number of places have been reserved, a number of spaces are available.
Think what you can do for wound healing.
See you in Soton.
