Focus
meetings
- Tissue
Repair, Contraction and the myofibroblast Nyon, Swizerland, November
2004
Organisers: Christine Chaponnier, Alexis Desmoulière and Giulio
Gabbiani
ETRS Business Office representative: Margaret Hughes
- Diabetic
vascular disease and wound complications Southampton, UK March 2005
Organiser: Raj Mani
ETRS Business Office Representatives: George Cherry and Joanna Cherry
These
meetings were advertised by members of the ETRS Business Office through
mailing lists, on the ETRS website (www.etrs.org),
the ETRS Bulletin and via other wound healing meetings throughout Europe
and USA. A booth with ETRS information was set up and manned by a representative
of the ETRS Business Office. Each organiser chose to use their own facilities
and budgets for the meetings.
ETRS Meetings
The ETRS Business Office has advertised widely the Joint meeting at Stuttgart
at all major European and American Wound Healing Meetings. Mailers have
been sent out of the first and second announcements along with the call
for abstracts. George Cherry has liaised with Henrik Nielsen of Congress
Consultants in this regard. The meeting has also been advertised on the
ETRS website which has links with all the major wound healing societies
throughout the world. An advertisement for the ETRS 2006 meeting in Pisa
will be produced shortly.
ETRS Bulletin
The Bulletin continues to thrive and three issues have been produced this
year with interesting features from all over the world. Esther Middelkoop
presented the results of her questionnaire on members’ general views
of the society. Issue 12, Volumes 1 and 2 are special in that they deal
with ‘The status of new technologies in tissue repair at the beginning
of the 21st century.’ All members should have received a copy, but
extra copies are available at the Stuttgart Meeting.
Members are encouraged to submit material for the ETRS Bulletin whether
of scientific or clinical nature and also to voice any ideas or opinions
of its content. We are also happy to advertise vacant positions. Members
of Industry are encouraged to advertise in the Bulletin. ETRS Website
(www.etrs.org)
The ETRS website is a major source of communication with members and the
general public. Old issues of the Bulletin are available. Upcoming meetings
are well advertised especially with the links to other major tissue repair
societies. Job opportunities and academic positions are also advertised
on the website.
Wound Repair & Regeneration
Since the subscription list from ETRS has been overhauled twice, the amount
to be paid to Blackwell for the members’ journals is much reduced.
Also it appears as if there is less interest from members to receive the
journal than previously.
