Tissue Repair, Contraction and
the Myofibroblast
Hôtel Beau-Rivage, Nyon, Switzerland, 18-20 November 2004
GENERAL INFORMATION
Topics
The conference will bring together international specialists in the areas
of tissue repair, fibrosis and stroma reaction to tumors. In all these
situations, fibroblasts which have acquired characteristics of smooth
muscle play a major role. While these myofibroblasts are implicated in
numerous physiological or pathological processes, many aspects of their
biology remain poorly understood. The purpose of this meeting is to take
stock of knowledge accumulated on the myofibroblast since this cell was
first described in 1971.
Four main sessions will be organized:
- General Aspects of Connective Tissue Remodelling;
- Origin of the Myofibroblast;
- Interactions of Myofibroblasts with Other
Cells;
- Organ Fibrosis.
