Annual Report for the year 2003–2004
The Woundcon 2003 was held at CLRI Chennai and was organised by Dr Mary
Babu. Dr Ramaswami (Director CLRI) declared strong support for skin research
at CLRI. Dr Raj Mani highlighted the changing perspective in wound care,
and Dr Nick Bosanquat (UK) emphasised the need for reducing the economic
burden. Dr Luc Téot emphasised the need for RCT in wound management,
and Dr Silvie spoke about wound dressings. Dr Finn Gottrup emphasised
the need for organising the wound healing services, and Dr Luther Kloth
dealt with electrical stimulation and angiogenesis. Dr Latha Satish spoke
on molecular switches, and Dr Shukla spoke on pressure ulcers. There were
two days of exciting CME programme.
A best-paper session was started during Wound-con 2003 and the first prize
was won by Dr Harinath for his presentation on the preparation of reconstituted
type I bovine collagen, Second prize was awarded to Raifiudeen Ahamed
for his work on Glycyl histidyl lysine incorporated collagen film on rat
wound healing.
General body also asked the Secretary to explore the feasibility of starting
an oration and a fellowship during the next five years. The discussions
are ongoing in this regard.
Woundindia.org website:
The website was launched in October 2002 and has been made
fully functional on 20 December 2002.
Posting of members list on web:
All the members were asked to provide their details and photograph for
posting on web; those who supplied were provided an active link to it
on the web.
Discussion forum:
An online discussion forum was started at the society web portal. It was
activated in October 2002. Members can post messages and discussions on
this site.
Newsletter:
An electronic newsletter was developed and its first issue was dispatched
to all the members on electronic dispatch link.

Membership:
The number of members has grown to nearly 100.
